Description and history

This superb 1958 MG A 1500 Roadster, recently imported from the USA, is a timeless symbol of British sports car design. Introduced in 1955, the MGA marked a decisive break from MG’s traditional styling, with its sleek aerodynamic lines, low stance, and modern handling.

Powered by a 1,489 cc inline-four engine producing around 72 hp, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, the MGA 1500 offers a remarkably engaging driving experience. With rear-wheel drive and a light weight of only 900 kg, it reaches a top speed close to 100 mph (160 km/h).

Approximately 58,750 units of the MGA 1500 were built between 1955 and 1959, but few remain today in such excellent, fully matching-numbers condition.

Restoration and current condition

This car underwent a complete professional restoration in 2023, including the bodywork, mechanics, electrics, chrome, seals, upholstery, and trim.

All components were either restored or replaced with original MG parts, faithfully maintaining its original factory specifications.

Since completion, it has covered only 1,450 miles, confirming the exceptional quality of the work performed.

The previous owner, standing nearly two meters tall, regrettably found the car uncomfortable to drive and has therefore decided to sell it.

The asking price represents only a fraction of the total investment made during the restoration.

Documentation and features

The vehicle comes with its Certificate of Historical Relevance and MG Car Club registration, attesting to its authenticity and collectable value.

Included are chrome wire wheels, Moto-Lita wood steering wheel, rear luggage rack, battery cut-off switch, window storage pouch, and a custom-made red car cover.

A rare opportunity to acquire a fully restored, matching-numbers MG A 1500 Roadster, with verified provenance and period-correct details a genuine icon of British motoring heritage.
